Future Build, sponsored by the PPC, is a 16 week pre-apprenticeship training
program focusing on green construction, solar theory and installation, all the
basics of the construction trades. Future Build is open to residents of East
Contra Costa County. Future Build is supported by federal and state grants
and certain eligibility criteria apply.
The Future Build program, admitted 38 students, 16 of whom graduated in
November 2021 and 20 this May 22. The graduation rate for those completing
in November was 95% and an employment rate of 97%, with graduates
earning an average of $19.58 per hour.
The pandemic affected instruction with on-line learning increasing, social
distancing, masking and other protocols being practiced. While it was more
complicated, instruction continued, and performance goals were achieved.
